Abstract
: This study aims to determine the learning motivation of students
with a broken home background which includes intrinsic and extrinsic learning
motivation. This study uses a qualitative method. Qualitative research is
research that is descriptive in nature and tends to use purposive techniques in
data collection. Researchers used in-depth interview techniques, participatory
observation and documentation studies. Intrinsic motivation is characterized
by the desire and desire to succeed, the hopes and aspirations and the activities
in learning. Extrinsic motivation is characterized by the existence of a conducive
learning environment, the encouragement and need for learning and the
appreciation of learning. The results of the study, that the learning motivation
of broken home students is that intrinsic and extrinsic motivation is not yet
optimal. Intrinsic motivation shows that they do not have responsibility for
completing their assignments, are not used to managing time for learning and
are not concerned with learning. Extrinsic motivation shows that there is a lack
of a comfortable learning atmosphere both in the classroom and at home, joint
study guidance with parents is lacking and the fulfillment of learning needs has
not been fulfilled. The impact that occurs is having a report card score below
the average and getting a lower rank in the class. In an effort to increase
learning motivation, researchers created or designed a program namely
"Increasing Student Learning Motivation through the Barisa Program at SMPN
2 Cimenyan, Bandung Regency
