Abstract

Accessibility to fulfill the growth and development of children with intellectual disabilities is the convenience and equality of the right to be able to meet special needs and services to be able to accelerate progress in children's conditions. The accessibility in question is the availability of infrastructure facilities or places for services to grow and develop, the distance between the house and the service is not so far, the time taken is short, and the ability to pay service fees. This study aims to examine: (1) the characteristics of children with intellectual disabilities, (2) the accessibility of growth and development of children with intellectual disabilities seen from the physical aspect, (3) the accessibility of the growth and development of children with intellectual disabilities seen from the cognitive aspect, (4) the accessibility of the growth and development of children with intellectual disabilities seen from the emotional aspect, and (5) the accessibility of the growth and development of children with intellectual disabilities seen from the aspect of social. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data source used the purposive sampling technique to determine six informants consisting of parents of children with intellectual disabilities, the Head of the Tanjunghurip Village Welfare Section, the Tanjunghurip Village Posyandu Cadre, the Principal of the Bina Nusatara Sukawening Extraordinary School, and the owner of the Izzati Therapy Center Sumedang. The data collection technique uses in-depth interview techniques, observation, and documentation studies. The results of the study showed that: (1) Children with disabilities in Tanjunghurip Village amounted to six people, with two of them experiencing development delay in the category of intellectual disability, (2) In the accessibility of physical growth and development, children were accessed to health centers, midwives, Rumah Izzati Therapy Center Sumedang, paraji (baby shamans), (3) In the accessibility of cognitive growth and development, there are several options, namely PAUD Cibungur and SLB Bina Nusantara Sukawening, (4) In the accessibility of emotional growth and development, it is considered that parents can still provide it, (5) The social aspect of children gets the opportunity to be able to play and interact with the environment. Based on the results of the study, the researcher proposed a program, namely the Parent Capacity Building Program in Accessing Growth and Development Services.
